Golden Gate
The representative building was erected between 1612 and 1614. The Golden Gate was built under the direction of Jan Strakowski, according to a design by Abraham van den Blocke. The Golden Gate is a vestige of the most splendid period in the history of Gdańsk art. It is also a perfect proof of the city’s openness to foreign canons of construction – the gate is an excellent example of the use of Dutch and Italian patterns.
