Main Gate of the Gdansk Shipyard

The Shipyard Gate is one of the symbols of the tragic events of December 1970, when the workers’ protests on the Coast were bloodily suppressed by the communist authorities. On 16 December 1970, troops opened fire on shipyard workers who were leaving their workplaces through Gate No. 2. Gate No. 2 is also one of the symbols of the Solidarity movement, which led to the collapse of communism in our country and also became an inspiration for opposition activists from other communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
