Neptune’s Fountain
One of the legends of Gdansk says that when the long-awaited Neptune’s Fountain was erected at the site of the city well on Długi Targ Street, the admiration of the cheering citizens of Gdansk, who spontaneously threw gold ducats into the water, pleasantly tickled the vanity of the deity. His Majesty showed his mercy and power, and stirring up the water with his trident broke the gold into tiny flakes decorating the wonderful herbal liqueur Goldwasser
