Artus Court is situated within the Main Town and is part of the representative city route called the Royal Route. The Brotherhood of St George, its founder, from the very beginning tried to remain elitist, demanded nobility from its members and made the same demands on the guests of Artus Court.
There was no lack of entertainment in the Court, such as masquerades, games of skill, concerts, circus arts. During holidays, everyone gathered for a festive meal, also groups from Mały Dwór, however the Brotherhood always emphasised its distinctiveness. Critical of the customs of the other frequenters of the Large Court, i.e. merchants and shipowners, the brother-knights used to refer to it as a ‘social drinking house’ or a ‘dancing house’. The former did not yet form a close community; they were only united by their professions, interests or simple intimacy.
